Connecting to FortiClient VPN

This guide is to instruct users on connecting remotely to the school's network to access resources that are only available locally, such as shared drives, from home.
The client will also work elsewhere but may not work due to restrictions on the WiFi/internet of the location.
The VPN will not connect while you are on site. If you wish to test it while on site you will need to connect your device to a hotspot on a phone before attempting to connect.

  1. Open FortiClient VPN. There should be a desktop shortcut or you can access it from the start menu.

  2. Log into the client using the same username and password you use to log into your laptop.
    If you are not presented with a VPN name or options for login then the config has not imported successfully. Please send a ticket to support@cablers.co.uk and we can add the config for you remotely. Please include your device name if you have it. You can search "Device Name" in windows to find it in Settings. Please also include a screenshot in your email if possible.



  3. Once it has connected you should be able to access drives as if you were in school. They may appear with a red x on the drive, but it should open and the x will disappear.
